Week 2 Research Reflection

This week I have learned that there are nine areas of passion where an administrator may find interest in running  an action research project. After reading the nine areas, I was able to see how well connected they are to each other, and that all of them are important to the educational community.
Also, this week I had the opportunity to meet with my school principal and we both decided that my action research will be done on the new intervention model that will be implemented this coming school year. I am so fascinated with the idea that I will follow this new project in the school. If we have positive results, it may impact the whole district.
As future instructional leaders we must set our minds to wonder all the time in order to continuously be part of  an action research.
I will close my reflection of this week with a quote that I really liked:
"Action Research is a fancy way of saying let's study what's happening at our school and decide how to make it a better place".

Use of Blogs

This is the first time that I have created a blog. I think it a great tool for educational leaders. It promotes dialogue between colleagues and reflection as well. It is a great way to stay connected in the educational community.

In this new era of technology teachers should also use this tool to communicate with students, for sure they will love it because in these days students get more actively engaged when technology is involved.

Action Research and How I Might Use It

After finishing my week 1 assignment on EDLD 5301 class, I learned how important an action research is for the educational organization. It is a meaningful way to grow professionally, engaging all the team members to work towards a common goal. All the members of the organization become practitioners which mean that they are more actively involved in the research process versus just being an outsider, focusing in just explaining a process. It is a reflective process in which a team comes together to find solution to a specific situation.
Research action promotes reflection which   is an important skill in leadership because it allow principals to step back, look at all the information gather and ask questions of what is working  and what requires an immediate  inquiry .
I would like to promote this kind of deep thinking at my school through the new learning communities that our new principal will try to implement this coming school year. This will allow my team members to become an active part of the new decisions and changes that we were already announced that will happened in our school. This will also allowed that the decisions made are base on the common good of all the members involved in the learning community.
